About
As part of the PhotoSaintGermain festival, the Musée Delacroix presents the work of Karen Knorr, an American-British artist born in Germany, with a selection from one of her best-known series, "India Song." Her photographs enter into dialogue with the exhibition Delacroix, Horses and Other Animals: drawing inspiration from the animals Delacroix painted, Karen Knorr populates the apartment with big cats, horses, and peacocks. Her images are built from architectural shots, taken with both large-format and digital cameras, into which living subjects observed in reserves, in a zoo, or in the wild are inserted - blurring the boundaries of the real. By weaving these animal figures into places steeped in memory, the works of Eugène Delacroix and Karen Knorr together conjure beautiful imaginary encounters.
