About

In Cheech at The Cheech, Carlos Puma utilizes his distinct black-and-white photographic style to delineate a timeline tracing The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture from its inception to present day. Beginning in 2017, Puma was granted exclusive, behind-the-scenes access to photograph Chicano icon Cheech Marin while the celebrated comedian, actor and art collector presided over the creation of this one-of-a-kind cultural center. In this exhibition, Marin is presented both as a public figure and a passionate steward of culture, whose advocacy has created a lasting space for Chicano voices in American art.
