About
This exhibition brings together assemblage sculpture, photography, archival materials, and a recreation of the Moody's mobile N.O.M.A.D. (Narrative, Odyssey, Manifesting, Artistic, Dreams) to consider home as something built, carried, and continually remade. Working with salvaged wood, glass, metal, and found objects, Moody assembles materials that hold memory, movement, and the lived experiences of migration, displacement, and belonging. Presented during the centennial of Route 66, the exhibition looks beyond the mythology of the "Mother Road" to consider the histories that continue to shape mobility across the American West. Drawing on the legacy of Black assemblage in Los Angeles and artists such as John Outterbridge, Moody's work transforms everyday materials into vessels of personal and collective memory, asking what we carry with us and what remains after we leave home.
