About
MASSIMODECARLO Pièce Unique is pleased to present _Gelitin Mirrors_, a new exhibition by the Viennese collective. Across performance, installation and sculpture, Gelitin have long questioned the boundary between the work and its viewer. Here, they turn to an object people have looked into for millennia: a surface that shows us the work and ourselves at once. looky look at it and back at you and back again. mirrors in art have a very mucho long history. one of the first known mirrors is made from highly polished obsidian dating 6200 BC. chinese, egyptian, etruscan, greek, roman, maya, aztec, inca cultures used mirrors as personal, spirtual and magical objects. lust and beauty, vanity, ambiguity, deception, the limits of reality... Jan van Eyck, Diego Velazquez, Cindy Sherman, Giovanni Boccaccio, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Frida Kahlo, Peter Paul Rubens, Yayoi Kusama, Jeff Koons, Dan Graham, Francesca Woodman... gelatin loves to play with art, psychology, human behavior, history and everything using their gelatin logic and gelatin style. just look at them, maybe they look back at you too. gelatin 2026
