About
In a world defined by acceleration, time often slips past us unobserved. In _Time for the Moment_, South Korean artist Kim Hyunkyung captures the weight of what remains. Rooted in traditional Korean ink painting and shaped by a deeply contemporary sensibility, Kim transforms _hanji_, traditional Korean paper, into a physical record of memory, atmosphere, and emotional residue. This solo exhibition serves as an elegant invitation to pause—to look closely at the quiet rhythms of nature and the profound beauty of things that gather over time. Presented in Tokyo—a city that beautifully balances relentless forward momentum with a deep cultural reverence for quiet, intentional spaces—_Time for the Moment_ carries a special resonance. Kim Hyunkyung offers a sanctuary of slow looking. Her delicately scorched, deeply textured surfaces remind us that the most profound experiences often emerge from absolute stillness. She asks us to realize that time is not merely something we lose, but something we accumulate, layer by layer, leaving an indelible mark on who we are.
