About

The Hong Kong Museum of Art has received a landmark donation of over 2,000 Cantonese and export artworks from Muwen Tang. The Museum has designated the “Muwen Tang Gallery of Cantonese and Export Art” for a series of exhibitions. The inaugural exhibition features over 120 sets of donated items from over ten categories including export paintings, silverware, painted enamels, fans, carvings, textiles, lacquerware and timepieces. From imperial tributes to export goods, they collectively chart the golden age of Guangdong’s artistic achievements in the 18th and 19th centuries. The exhibition is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has all along promoted Chinese history and culture through organising an array of programmes and activities to enable the public learn more about broad and profound Chinese culture.
