About
In my work, I explore the tension between structure and fluidity, balancing organic spontaneity with the deliberate construction of shape and line. These elements reflect my fascination with nature and the inevitable aging that all things undergo. Using acrylic and inks on canvas, I create an intricate dialogue between opaque shapes and transparent washes of color, building interlocking forms that suggest unrecognizable constructions, or frameworks. My process is one of accumulation and refinement. Each canvas undergoes a cycle of building up a complex underpainting before refining and simplifying the surface, leaving behind hidden lines and subtle tonal shifts. Beneath these vibrant and contemplative layers lies a visual history—remnants of ideas partially obscured, yet essential to the final composition.
