About
This is the third chapter dedicated by Le Stanze del Vetro to the history of Murano glass at the Venice Biennale. The exhibition, curated by Marino Barovier, examines the decade from 1948 to 1958, i.e. from the resumption of the Biennale’s activities after the end of World War II through the 1950s (i.e. from the XXIV to the XXIX edition). Hosted once again in the Venice Pavilion, the glass exhibitions held in this period testified to the renewed vitality of Murano production through the works of various ‘historical’ glassworks, of others that had only recently been established, as well as of a number of artists who participated in a personal capacity. Indeed, this decade represented an exceptionally fertile season for Murano as well, in tune with the great fervour of the period thanks to the economic boom and the rise of design culture.
