About
Titled Across Words, the Pavilion's inquiry is on the power of language as a generative force within Timor-Leste's layered systems of communication: visual, oral, and spoken. Rather than seeking linguistic cohesion, the people of Timor-Leste proudly locate their identity in a multiplicity of ancestral dialects and official idioms. Within this diversity, a unique unity emerges—a cohesion found Across Words. This second national participation will take place at the Arsenale, marking Timor-Leste's first presentation within one of the Biennale's most historic and internationally recognized venues — a defining milestone in the country's growing presence on the global cultural stage.
