About
"As I Shape the Object, the Object Shapes Me" is Nina Ćeranić's first solo exhibition, on view at A plus A from 19 February to 18 April 2026. The exhibition presents an en- vironmental installation poised between a place of worship and a computer desktop, in which small paintings are enclosed within wooden and brass casings. Conceived and crafted by the artist, these architectural elements simultaneously evoke devotional and digital devices, altarpiece polyptychs and the structures of contemporary operating sy- stems alike. Windows, frames, folders, and icons transform the gallery into an intimate, personal space. Across the three different bodies of work on view, Nina Ćeranić investigates the specular relationship between subject and object, between affect and corporeality. In "Objects" (2018 – ongoing), the objects that make up the artist's everyday life emanate a truth that we sometimes pause to contemplate and at other times are forced to endure. "Skin and Nails" (2025 – ongoing) marks a new phase in Ćeranić's research, introducing a more explicit interest in the body: worn fingers and hands that knot, wear, grip, weave, and shape. Finally, in the "Qualia/Memories" cycle (2015–2018), the artist retraces her own history, where fragments of life, dreams, desires, and fears lie at the center of pictorial representations combining collage and archival photographs. "As I Shape the Object, the Object Shapes Me" offers an unprecedented emotional com- pendium, inviting visitors to navigate a short circuit of devotional practices, digital ar- chiving, and consumption.
