Mirrored Dreams

TINT is pleased to present _Mirrored Dreams_, featuring works by Arminée Chahbazian and Minami Oya. Through drawing and sculpture, both artists create works that hold contrasting elements in tension. Chahbazian's layered compositions bring together elements from different environments and contexts, creating imagined landscapes built from familiar forms, while Oya uses reflection as both material and metaphor, exploring the exchange that occurs when opposing forces meet. Chahbazian works with graphite, colored pencil, translucent layers of duralar, and delicately stitched elements of glass beads and wire to create intricate mixed-media works on paper. Her compositions bring together elements that share visual or conceptual connections while existing apart in the natural world: an iceberg and a balloon, jellyfish in front of a waterfall, a giant honeycomb dripping into an arid desert, a mythical phoenix rising above the city that bears its name. Through these unexpected pairings, Chahbazian creates poetic landscapes that explore the beauty and fragility of the environments that inspire her. Alongside the sense of wonder in Chahbazian's work is an awareness of change and loss. Life forms and structures appear out of place, suggesting landscapes that are changing, becoming physically inaccessible, or existing increasingly as imagined places. Oya's glass sculptures explore reflection as both a physical property and a conceptual tool. Using sheet mirrors and a modern chemical silvering process applied to the interior of blown glass forms, she creates reflective surfaces that shift between object and portal. Her sculptures suggest the presence of alternate realities and invite viewers to consider perspectives beyond the immediately visible. In Oya's _Impact Horizon_ series, blown glass forms stretch apart, rest within one another, or meet across mirrored surfaces, creating compositions that suggest moments of exchange and transformation. Her wall-mounted _Energy Portraiture_ works combine sculptural forms with mirrored surfaces, making reflection an integral part of the composition. In _Mirrored Dreams_, Chahbazian and Oya invite viewers into dreamlike spaces where the familiar and the imagined converge.
