About

The spiral grooves cut into vinyl records appear similar to the contour lines used in maps depicting radiating seismic patterns. These patterns inspired Milgrim's Rotations series. In these works, she cut radiating grooves into acrylic paint, creating a labyrinth of circular terrains. Inspired by traditional costumes of Greek village women, Mary Curtis Ratcliff has constructed three large figurative fabric collages which draw together her family's history and life as a sculptor. Many of the elements included in these works are antique objects inherited from Ratcliff's mother, from whom she learned sewing and three-dimensional design.
