Softer Than Stone

An exhibition of paintings by Jillian Verzino inspired by Italian pietra dure (hard stones) and the art of marble inlay. The work features layered, marbled substrates with thick opaque forms, decorative compositions filled with vegetative and floral labyrinths, and fruit-like forms exploring themes of procreation and death through the artist's perspective as both painter and farmer.
