About

_Noguchi to Asawa: Designing Postwar America_ is the first exhibition of its kind to unite the work of six iconic artists: sculptor Isamu Noguchi (1904–1988), architect and furniture designer George Nakashima (1905–1990), sculptor Leo Amino (1911–1989), graphic designer S. Neil Fujita (1921–2010), fiber artist Kay Sekimachi (b. 1926), and sculptor Ruth Asawa (1926–2013). The exhibition explores how each of these artist's helped influence modern art and design, and considers the experiences that shaped them––including the profound impact of Japanese and Japanese American incarceration during World War II.
