About
In Shadows We Bloom features a collaborative work created by participants of Art Access: Open Studios, beginning as individual pieces that come together as a communal whole. Using the metaphor of a window, each participant created a work reflecting their unique perspective. Inspired by the Tiffany exhibition, the process incorporated shadow and light through projection and tracing. These windows were brought together on a larger surface, forming a unified composition that honors individual viewpoints while reflecting the community as a whole. Open Studio Participants : Sarah Beth, Tiffany, Marina, Maggie Safuto, David Angus, Nicholas Cusack, Joilyn Ventura, Christopher Jean Baptiste, and Friends Teaching Artists : Serafina Musumeci, Michelle Melo, Jacob Hicks Art Access: Open Studios is a monthly arts-based workshop at the Queens Museum that invites children, teens, and adults with disabilities—and their families—to come together in an explorative and creative environment. Each session features a unique art activity designed to spark self-expression, social connection, and artistic exploration. With an emphasis on process over product, participants are encouraged to explore their identities through art and to share their creative journeys with one another.
