About
Paula Cooper Gallery is pleased to present _WOODS LANDS MEADOWS_, a group exhibition at Frieze House Seoul, opening August 27 and on view through September 19, 2026. Taking its title from Carl Andre's 1972 poem _WOODS WOODS LANDS WOODS LANDS MEADOWS_, this exhibition brings together contemporary interpretations of landscape and explores how the natural or built environment is reencountered in art and reworked through image, language, and material. Across abstraction and figuration, and in media ranging from painting and sculpture to photography, collage, and the written word, the works gathered here explore the many ways landscape is remembered, mapped, contested, reduced, and remade. Works by Terry Adkins, Carl Andre, Tauba Auerbach, Jennifer Bartlett, Jane Benson, Cecily Brown, Sarah Charlesworth, Mark di Suvero, Hans Haacke, Cynthia Hawkins, Sol LeWitt, Walid Raad, Veronica Ryan, and Meg Webster offer new ways of looking at the world by foregrounding materiality and natural processes, history and the archive, and personal memory and embodied geographies. Together, they propose landscape not as a stable form, but as one continually produced and mediated through acts of recollection, refraction, and representation.
