About
This exhibition marks the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Month, brought to life through a meaningful collaboration between students of Montclair State University (MSU) and MAM's School of Art. Using art as a vehicle to defy stigma and foster human connection, the works on view explore themes of anxiety, resilience, pain, and healing. Together, they create a space for conversation, visibility, and community support, inviting every viewer to reflect on their own experiences while building empathy for others. Students of all ages and lived experiences submitted work for this juried show; 20 of 30 entries were selected and printed as posters by MSU, and three works received awards. All 30 submissions can be viewed in the slideshow on our video monitor. It's long been scientifically understood that art and creative expression can reduce stress and support mental health. At MAM, many of our classes, workshops, and public programs are designed with these benefits in mind. We invite you to create at MAM:
