About

Step into a world where art, science, and spirituality meet in Sacred Transition, an immersive installation by New Jersey-based artist Christine Romanell. Transforming the Laurie Art Stairway, this vibrant installation invites visitors to pause, look up, and reflect. Romanell's 3D printed sculptures, inspired by sacred geometry and cosmology, hang from the ceiling and are framed by laser-cut, dichroic plexiglass halos. As sunlight filters through the space, the works come alive—casting colorful reflections and intricate shadows that shift throughout the day. Rooted in design principles like fractals and Islamic patterning, Romanell's forms suggest transformation, movement, and the infinite complexity of the universe. Three wall-mounted pieces in soft blues, greens, and pinks add depth to the installation, evoking portals to other worlds and enhancing the immersive atmosphere. Romanell is an accomplished local artist and community leader. She is board president of the Manufacturer's Village Artists complex in East Orange, NJ, founder of Garden State Weekend, and a 2022 New Jersey State Council on the Arts Fellow. Whether you're drawn to the beauty of geometry, the play of color and light, or simply want a moment of wonder in your day, Sacred Transition offers a transformative experience unlike any other.
