About

Mana Contemporary is proud to present the installation _Echoes, Hrönirs – The Three Titans:_ _Artillero, Barloss, and Jusfis_ by [TLaloC](https://www.instagram.com/tlalocorralnyc/) (a.k.a. Eduardo Corral), a NYC-based, award-winning illustrator, interdisciplinary artist, designer, and educator born in the industrial city of Monterrey, Mexico. The three inflatable sculptures that compose this project are inspired by the hrönir, entities described by Borges in Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius, where these objects are unstable forms of memory, language, and collective imagination. Rather than duplications, hrönir are manifestations that emerge from recollection, repetition, or the act of forgetting. Their existence depends on having been evoked or recognized. In this context, the sculptures are presented as constructions of the “foreign, ” produced from a position of enunciation by the artist, in which the “alien” functions as a condition of reading. Their inflatable materiality and dependence on air underscore their instability, situating them between presence and appearance. The installation incorporates music with an atmospheric quality that expands the perception of space and intensifies its sense of uncertainty. An olfactory component accompanies the installation through the diffusion of a faintly recognizable sweetness, intensifying the sensation of strangeness and of an external presence within the space. Encountered within a restricted-access area of the building, the pieces withdraw from the conventions of the gallery space, forming a shared perceptual field in which presence becomes partial, unstable, and contingent.
