Carolyn Mazloomi, Chasing Freedom

Carolyn Mazloomi's new 19 ft masterpiece quilt Chasing Freedom is not just a work of art, it's an American chronicle made tangible — teaching us history is not only the past, but also what we do with it. This quilt covers some of the most important milestones in Black history. The work is a visual approach to sometimes difficult subjects within Black history, while illustrating the struggles and triumphs of Black communities around the country. Topics include the civil rights movement, the Black power movement, Black achievement, and current issues affecting African Americans.
