About

40 Objects, 40 Years is a brand new exhibition from Freud Museum London, reflecting the diverse nature of its collection. Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis, moved to London with his family in 1938 to escape Nazi-occupied Vienna and spent the final year of his life in Hampstead, which has been transformed to become Freud Museum London. Freud was an avid collector of antiquities, and many of the most precious items from his personal collection have been brought out of his study to be seen up close. Family treasures are also on display: objects from the Freuds' domestic and personal spaces which illustrate the house as a former family home, and items from long-term storage will be seen for the very first time.
