About

For the current Nunnery Café exhibition, Bow Arts are proud to present a showcase of work by artist jdwoof (aka Jo Wood). jdwoof is a a local self-taught artist and community arts practitioner based at the Old Manor Park Library studio site. jdwoof makes things using found, foraged and reclaimed materials – and runs workshops and walks exploring creativity, nature and wellbeing. “Creatures help me. If I can understand a difficult feeling or story about myself as a wolf, snake, or bird, I can observe it rather than push it away. I can be curious about what it needs. I can stroke its sweet nose or give it room to flap or snarl. This helps remind me that I am part of a community of creatures, including humans, trees, soil, air, rocks, insects, and weather. I might feel like something scary is happening, but I always have company. These paintings and drawings are from the last few years. Some of these creatures I have got to know after depicting them many times, others remain more mysterious.” Image credits: jdwoof (aka Jo Wood)
