About

An immersive installation and unique soundscape exploring dub legend Lee "Scratch" Perry and electronic duo Mouse on Mars’s new album. As part of Project a Black Planet, a specially commissioned immersive environment explores Spatial, No Problem, an album featuring some of the last recordings made by Lee "Scratch" Perry. Recorded in Berlin in 2019, it brings together Perry’s dub innovations with Mouse on Mars’ experimental electronic sound. The recordings were conceived as a spatialised work from the outset, making this installation the only way to experience the album as fully intended. Presented in spatial audio on a d&b Soundscape system, it foregrounds the album’s approach to sound, combining rhythm, improvisation, digital manipulation and Perry’s vocal style. While not a reggae record, his influence runs throughout, connecting dub, electronic music and Afrofuturist ideas. Alongside, in-person events explore the collaboration’s context and Perry’s wider legacy.
