About

_(Re)presenting the Past_, on view from August 15, 2026 – July 1st, 2027 at Tisch Library features ten artists whose works reframe history. Anchored by the Godville series of portraits by SMFA alumnus Omer Fast (BA/BFA 1995), the exhibition uncovers new perspectives on past events while bringing our current moment into clearer focus. The year 2026 marks the 150th anniversary of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, making it an opportune time not only to spotlight SMFA alumni but also the school's history interlaced with personal narrative and potent legend. Taking advantage of the unfixed nature of the past, these artists uncover new histories in order to build a greater understanding of the present. All works on view in _(Re)presenting the Past_ are drawn from the Tufts University Permanent Collection, overseen by Tufts University Art Galleries (TUAG) Graduate Fellow Kendall Murphy (MA'26).
