Martin Kline: Fields of Capture

The show consists of blooms, pools and waves, in a wide range of colors and configurations, from natural beeswax to brilliant color hues and gold and metallic reflections, all formed in relief to remind you that encaustic is all at once drawing, painting, and sculpture. Someone once told me that shadow is my métier, and this observation can serve to remind as light passes over a subtle terrain of smooth ponds and lakes, of projecting growths and shelves of stark shadows suggesting not only the realms of the terrestrial and aquatic, but also the celestial. —Martin Kline
