About
Two newly exhibited silk paintings also illustrate references to the theme of “family”: one depicts the breastfeeding goddess Hariti, who is revered as the protector of children. The other is an exceptionally rare and newly restored silk painting showing Manichaean nuns (Electae), who left their families to devote themselves entirely to religion. ### Curator The alternating presentation is curated by Lilla Russell-Smith, curator for Central Asian Collection, Museum für Asiatische Kunst der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin. --- _Family and Religion_ is an alternating presentation in the permanent exhibition _Art from the Northern Silk Road_ of the [Museum für Asiatische Kunst](https://www.smb.museum/en/museums-institutions/museum-fuer-asiatische-kunst/home/ 'Museum für Asiatische Kunst'), in the dome room, Room 317.
