Stone Embroidery – Resilience and Cultural Memory

This group exhibition curated by Marta Pogorila showcases artworks created during a collaborative workshop series dedicated to "stone embroidery" of the Nova Kakhovka, Kherson region of Ukraine. This project, realized by Young Initiatives (Ukraine) and Dialogue for Understanding e.V. (D4U, Germany), was supported by IFA (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) under the CCP Synergy program. The initiative was conceived during the month marking the anniversary of the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam - a tragedy against humanity, nature, and architectural heritage. Through the guidance of experts from the Nova Kakhovka Society for the Protection of Cultural Heritage workshop participants explored the intersection of cultural resilience and artistic preservation. This exhibition serves as both a testament to the endurance of southern Ukrainian cultural motifs and a call for solidarity. By showcasing these works, we aim to foster dialogue between the Ukrainian diaspora, German institutions, and cultural experts, ensuring that Ukraine's rich architectural legacy remains a vital part of the European cultural narrative.
