About
Please Please Me is a series of drawings, made during 2026 with pencil and graphite dust on paper. Please Please Me. The smiling voice, the bouncy beat, over and over. That's the song I used to dance to, alone, as a kid. It was the only record with a pulse among the few dusty vinyls my mom had, so I danced to it even though I didn't really like it. Maybe the rhythm let me escape the shame and pain in my body for a while. The record of my childhood got scratched early on. It keeps skipping back, and the past becomes the present again and again. Paper scratches too. Pencil drawing is raw and bare, hiding nothing. Graphite has no undo function, mistakes can't be completely erased, but they can lead to new things. These imperfections become guides to my unconscious, revealing secrets I have no words for. Latva
